ChemSweep Cost-Share

What is ChemSweep?

Colorado ChemSweep is a program organized and performed by Clean Harbors, a firm specializing in hazardous material management.  If you have any unwatend, unused, or banned/outdated pesticide waste that you wish to dispose of, "Colorado ChemSweep" is an environmentally sound and economical disposal option for this material.  The program meets all State and Federal hazardous waste regulations.

The ChemSweep program is performed throughout the state each year in March and October.  Clean Harbors will pick-ujp pesticides that have a brand name, trade name, or active ingredient on the label.  Containers with unknown contents may require obtaining a sample for analysis.  Participants who register materials that are unknown may be contacted by Clean Harbors in order to obtain a sample prior to pickup.

Participants will pay an all-inclusive cost of approximately $3.00 per pound with a $200 minimum per stop.  Materials will be weighed at your location on certified digital scales and you will be charged based upon the weight of the waste prior to packaging.  Clean Harobrs will be manifested as the generator of the waste, thus reducing future liabilities for program participants.

More information is available through the Colorado Department of Agriculture.  The registration form must be completed and submitted to be insured of availability of service.

Cost-Share Available

The Longmont Conservation District Supervisors would like to encourage participation in this program.  They have made funds available to cover the $200 minimum charge for any landowner in the District who participates.  Reimbursement is done on a first-come first-served basis until the funds set aside for this program are exhausted.  You must submit a copy of your paid receipt for cost-share consideration to the Conservation District Office.

On-site pickups throughout the state are tentatively scheduled for one week in March and one week in October each year.  There is no deadline for registration.  Complete you inventory and submit it to Clean Harbors so you can be added to their database as they start planning the program.  For more information contact Clean Harbors Colorado ChemSweep Hotline at
